Whether you have one hour to spare or want to be a full-time community leader, UMBC has a service opportunity for you. Connect with our campus community and greater Baltimore through the Shriver Center Service-Learning program, which enables students to choose sites that align with their passions and goals.

To see the full range of service and social action groups on campus, visit the Office of Student Life resource page. If you don’t spot something that interests you, start your own organization today.

Promote Your Service Program or Event
Already leading a service group and looking for volunteers? Send us your service event details. We’ll try to publicize as many as possible.

Community Program Grants
UMBC departments and student organizations interested in developing community programs or service initiatives reflecting BreakingGround themes can now also apply for implementation grants of up to $1,000. The purpose of these grants is to help transform what would otherwise be one-time community service projects into forums for the development of civic agency.
