Kayla Keelan is the graduate coordinator for service in UMBC’s Office of Student Life.
The Alternative School Break trips are multi-day service engagement trips (most of which take place during Spring Break) designed to teach students about social issues and position them to get more deeply involved in problem-solving. Each ASB trip is organized and led by a student trip leader, and features a UMBC faculty or staff learning partner. This program, built around service, critical thinking and reflection, empowers students to create change and to engage and help educate their peers. Participants find the experience inspiring, educational and fun!
The student trip leaders for our spring 2013 ASB trips share their plans below. If you’re interested, apply to join us. Questions? Send an email to bealternativeUMBC@gmail.com.
